Impact of Professional Wrestling on Society in Pakistan

Image
Sports, in their barest form, have been about taking on seemingly impossible challenges and overcoming the odds, and therefore, stand as a symbol of hope, determination, and sheer willpower. People who are big fans and supporters of wrestling value it as a sport and don't write it off as simply a way to get out of the house to watch the well-muscled wrestlers pummel their opponents while they have a blast cheering or booing with their family and friends. Pakistanis find themselves entrenched in the sport due to its highly competitive nature and combative aspect. Nowadays, they are thrilled because Ring of Pakistan has given them what they wanted-a wrestling experience that makes them feel like they are abroad, watching a wrestling match unfold in front of their very eyes right in Pakistan. Since they are deeply involved with wrestling, the sport affects them on a deeper level rendering a positive impact on society. The following traits in our people attributed to wrestling make i...

Future of Wrestling in Pakistan

Image
The future of wrestling is, like with everything else, intertwined with its past and present. This combat sport had been in the doldrums for a long time despite being hugely popular in the country with immense wrestling talent. The gist of it is as follows: Glorious Past Its popularity goes back to a pre-partition era when Pehlwani reigned as one of the top sports and gave birth to wrestling legends such as Gama the Great, Bholu Pahalwan, Rahim Baksh Sultaniwala that were worth their name in gold. Slow Decline of Wrestling The glorious past of wrestling gradually faded into the background well after the creation of Pakistan. Wrestling families attribute it to the lack of funding and sponsorship from the government. Others lament that the sport wasn't lucrative any longer for the talent to come forward and devote themselves to the long hours of training and invest the money required for such heavy training. A Platform-For Wrestlers & the People Despite our champions ...

Why ROP became an instant hit in Pakistan?

Image
Ring of Pakistan (ROP) is synonymous with wrestling across the country and is popular among both the young and the old male demographic and to an extent among the young female generation. It has been fortunate to enjoy this honor and prestige from the beginning of its journey, which began in 2018. Four years down the line; its popularity is still rising with wrestling buffs that used to swear by international wrestling companies now giving it credit and becoming its loyal ambassadors. Two things factored into its success from day one that made people instantly connect with the wrestling entertainment company. Bringing the World-famous Wrestling Champions to Pakistan  Even though a major portion of Pakistanis watched the ROP on the screen, the knowledge and sensation of having their all-time favorite wrestling superstars bashing it out with their opponents on their land were as exhilarating as the match itself. And those who came out to watch the first event live in Islamabad we...

Image
Let's admit it guys, there's a dearth of good solid entertainment in our country, especially when it comes down to wrestling. Most people have to get their sports dose through subscriptions to wrestling streaming services and satellite TV. But something live, something that gets your adrenaline pumping is (most of the time) missing. But not this year.  ROP is going live, Get Ready DHA Multan! This December, Ring of Pakistan (ROP) is holding its wrestling events in Pakistan--Multan, Karachi, and Islamabad, the first stop is  DHA Multan . So,  book tickets  for yourself, your family and even your closest buddies since it's going to be one hell of an event. How do we know? Course, we checked, confirmed and redid the whole thing again before going public with it. Do you think the Pakistani-entertainment-starved-public is going to forgive us if we fumbled such news? Our own team, staunch fans and supporters of ROP would be tearing us down.  A Bit of ROP Backgro...
